"DO NOT LOOK AT ANYBODIES EYES FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS IF YOU DO NOT WANNA BE KISSED"
"Scary!!!" I said, then 2 seconds is nothing, I mean, it is the normal, minimal time that you look at someone. Where should I look at then? It was so funny, I spend almost 15 minutes just looking at the floor, just trying to find anybodies' eyes .I certainly heard before about "ficar", that is just what Brazilians do when they at a party dance with someone and kiss this person, and so they can kiss as many people, as they dance with in one night. But ok, for this to happen you need first to accept dancing with someone, so therefore I was quite relax, since this was not my plan.
But this new fact of "kissing after looking" was completely NEW to me!
After my mini shock, that last around 20 minutes, of course nothing happened. Despite of that, I think Johanna's clarification was a good one, then it was again so funny to see how people that were at this BALADA (this is how they call when they go to a disco, or go dancing) certainly could just kiss after looking for a while at each other. And the place certainly "logistically" allowed this to happen, then there are no tables, just a hall with a bunch of people walking and dancing around, as in a concert and the musicians on stage. Imagine you walking and kiss here, kiss there ... so funny, this without naming the couples that remain kissing all the night long, everywhere and without any shame ... so funny and in these moments is when you value so much the power of cultural expressions.
The only random, strange thing that happened to me there, was when a random guy that I never saw before was blowing some wind in my neck! Helloooooo?? I turned with such a scary face and we ran away from there quickely. Principiant ... of course you can imagine that there are many that just turn around and give a nice look to the guy, and you know what follows ... hehehe
Well, this was today's story. I guess it impressed me a lot, since I have been here just a couple of days and for sure it will take a couple of times more until I get used to it. However, all is relative and even if here you have a particular and strong night culture :), you can also have good fun, without having any problems and without doing anything that you do not want- is just a matter of being on the same page! Music here is amazing, this night music was life, it was a type of Samba called pagode- as Johanna and David say, it's a kind of samba that you could dance the whole night long... but ok, I still need to learn much more about music to be able to write you about it and so many other stuff that I have seen in these few days!
By the way, I want to thank Johanna and David (for the AIESEC people, he's "pupilo", ex -MCVP of AIESEC Venezuela, who is doing a traineeship in P&G here) for the plans of this weekends - I really never imagined experience Brasil in this moment with you - obrigada!
Missing Colombia a lot! and looking fwd to new stuff to come.
Oriana
